Become a Member




The membership year runs from April to March, with fees due by 31 March.  Membership fees are reviewed and set annually.  The price to join for 2017-18 is £14 for Members and £7 for students and Associate Members.  The latter are either spouses/partners of members or former members who have left the area and who wish to retain an interest in the Society.  Members may bring guests to evening meetings, who are charged £2 per meeting.  Members receive a Membership Card and a Programme Card which lists the annual programme of evening meetings, as well as key dates of exhibitions and workshops. 

Benefits of joining the Society 

  • Meetings and art demonstrations - free to members;  light refreshment included.  
  • Exhibitions and sales - showcase your artwork, perhaps win a prize or sell something.  
  • Preview evening for the big summer exhibition - an invitation for two. 
  • Other opportunities for members to show artwork.  Currently there is a regular display in Parkers Estate Agents in South Street.
  • Promoting events  - always happy to include something on the Diary Dates page for members who have exhibitions or open studios.  Information is often emailed to members.
  • Workshops - priority booking and discount price for Society organised workshops.  
  • Appraisal of artwork. It's always interesting to have a critical eye cast over one's work!  
  • Discounts on materials.  Membership of the Society entitles members to a 15% discount on art materials bought at Arts and Crafts in East St Bridport.  10% discount is offered at Herrings in High West St Dorchester; just show your membership card.
  • Newsletters - to keep you up-to-date with Society activities and news.
  • The chance to meet and mix with local artists - and to help at some of the Society's events.

To apply for membership you can download an application form by clicking here - Application Form  - completed forms and payment should be returned to the Secretary (details on form).  If you do not have a printer you can request a paper copy; please Contact Us .  Alternatively, pop along to one of our meetings and pick up a form.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - information for members

The details you give us will be put on the Society’s membership database and used to keep you informed so that you can participate in the Society’s activities. For example, you will receive details of the annual programme, newsletters, entry forms for exhibitions, and forms to go on workshops and trips. We will also send you other information, usually by email, about arts events that may interest you.

We have to ask for your consent to hold and use your personal data to contact you. In saying how you prefer to be contacted, please bear in mind that it is much faster, easier and more economical for us to communicate with you by email. We will also need to send you some things by post e.g. membership and programme cards.


We will keep your personal data safe and secure. We will only use it for the purposes for which it is intended and will not keep it longer than is justified. We will never share it with anyone else without your consent.  You can opt out of receiving communications and ask for the erasure of your details at any time.
